Name of your website?

castorjewelry.com

Your name?

Sandra Castor

Your Location (city, etc)

3 North Union Street, Lambertville 08530

Please give us a short summary of your website?

A showcase of some of our unique one of a kind jewelry. Handcrafted one at a time with precious metals, hand chosen rare gems and ancient artifacts - no detail is overlooked.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Our pieces are very special and are made for the person who respects fine art and is not afraid to have something very different. Much of our jewelry is one of a kind and is perfect for special events or for that special person that needs a piece that reflects thier own unique personality and lifestyle. The website has given a small sample of what we offer to a wider range of clientelle that look for that very special item.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Castor Jewelry's first website was launched over 10 years ago at the same web address. Like today it gave the viewer a taste of our special services. Today it is much larger.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Castor Jewelry has been in business for over 30 years and is named for the craftsman and designer Tom Castor who continues to make the jewelry today.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Castor pieces are like no others offered worldwide. The style, contents and craftsmanship are very unique. Castor Collectors wait for new pieces to be finished and most are sold before they are in the boutique or on the web. The services provided are very personal and private. We value the individual.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal is to continue to broaden our worldwide market and reach the type of clientelle that appreciate the finer things.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

The investment of time is never in balance when you truly love what you do. The rewards come when a piece is finished and a collector or a new customer falls in love with it.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

The next developemental step would be a multi lingual website to truly accomodate all of our customers.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I believe so. Our pieces are very specialized and I feel that when a client searches for something of this quality they are inclined to wait to get something very special.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Internet fraud is a difficult reality. There is always someone who will attemp to get something for nothing or to copy our own ideas. Fortunately the content and craftsmanship of our work is so specialized that it is difficult or impossible in most cases to reproduce for the mass market. We pride ourselves in our own uniqueness and look to broaden our base with others who share this passion.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Our biggest challenge is to get global recognition at the same time as keeping our relationships with our clients very personal. This allows us to meet our customers needs and desires and make the entire experience worthwhile.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Believe it or not, word of mouth has been a large asset in the expansion of our website within the United States as well as the United Arab Emerites. We have many customers who travel extensively and continue to visit our site at home or abroad and tell others about it.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

The website continues to fulfill our expectations. It was just revised this past fall and allows us to continue to add new and exciting pieces as we wish.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The original site started over 10 years ago and we expect to spend more and more of our time with it as an important business tool.

What is your favorite jewelry collection on your site?

I believe our favorite is the same as the web viewing public, the Iron and Artifact Collection on our website gets the most traffic. The items on this section of the site are the most unique and irreplacelble pieces. All are one of a kind and contain very rare or special stones and or artifacts. These are the types of pieces that have been extremely collectable and are rarely available to the public. These are the pieces that we love!
