Name of your website?

Accented Jewels

Your name?

Lacie Morrison

Your Location (city, etc)

Asheboro, 27205

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We offer a respectable collection of necklaces, earrings, rings, and bracelets. We focus on uniqueness and quality, yet at an affordable price. Our website is designed to be user-friendly, nothing too difficult. ~

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I was working as a cashier at Lowes Food, when this woman comes in and tries to sell me some jewelry. I call her up later and meet with her, have a look at her items. Most of it was reasonably priced, but the designs and quality were not to my liking at all. It seemed very tacky. So, I decided to check out other jewelry stores online and in person. The shops I visited were intimidating and aimed at a very small market, in my opinion. Wal-Mart's materials were not even listed with the product, so I knew it must be too cheap to be decent. Online shops were far too expensive and relied too much on fancy websites.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website, actually!

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Well, I wanted people to associate my business with jewelry. Accented Jewels, the name just stuck with me. The reason I choose this word, "accented" is because I see that as what jewelry is. An accent to an outfit, an accent can make something very plain something special.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

1. Prices My jewelry is fairly priced, I've looked at other sites prices and I was offended.

2. Quality While I try to keep reasonable prices, I absolutely do NOT believe in anything low-quality. High-Quality only please.

*One reason I am so adamant about quality is...my first shipment of jewelry was extremely low-quality, and it made me so mad that I had paid ANY money at all for this, so I guess my customers must feel the same way.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I may well sell it eventually, I just want to get the business out there and functioning. I want to provide the public with a new kind of jewelry, it's not just for rich people and it doesn't have to be tacky because it doesn't have a three-digit price tag.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

As of right now, I have invested a huge amount of time and effort, and quite a bit of cash. I am confident it will pay off.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would expand my collection, I would hire researchers and writers to work on the information section, I would hire designers to design new jewelry for me, possibly a professional web designer. I am not too bad, but there's always room for improvement!

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Of course.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

A lot. You'd think it'd be easy, it's just a website with some pictures on it, but there's a lot more that goes into it. Fees, fees, fees, that's all you need to hear when you are on a limited budget. Sometimes, I get a little anxious. I have invested so much that if it doesn't work out, I'm not sure what I'd do. However, I know that you learn the most valuable lessons from failure.

The whole process has been a learning experience, to say the least.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Hmm...the biggest challege is staying optimistic.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Posting in forums, telling my friends about the site. The search engines haven't quite found me yet.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It's a lot harder, but also a lot easier than I expected. The things I expected to be easy were hard and the things I thought would be hard were actually pretty easy.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have had it for approximately 1 month.

What motivates you?

Passion!

What is your website address?
