TwelveBeads Interview

By Interviewer at 04/08/08 21:17

Name of your website?

TwelveBeads

Your name?

Gwen R

Please give us a short summary of your website?

TwelveBeads specializes in prayer beads and jewelry for the Twelve Step. Most of the items on the site are one-of-a-kind. The one-of-a-kind items are named after people and often include the meaning of the name. All of the pieces have meaning or a message and feature twelve beads symbolizing the Twelve Steps.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

My own passion and need for prayer and meditation. Prayer and meditation have been and continue to be one of the greatest aids in my recovery from alcoholism. I want to share what has helped me with others.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

TwelveBeads was launched in September 2005 and is my first website. I am a self taught webster and this venture was completely unplanned. It has been a very natural development. As I continue to learn, TwelveBeads continues to get stronger.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

All the prayer beads I make have TwelveBeads to go with the Twelve Steps of recovery programs. It seemed very right.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

TwelveBeads is the only site I know of that has only recovery prayer beads. Occasionally you can find a set of beads for addiction or the Twelve Steps but those sites are generally focused more on rosaries for a specific religion. TwelveBeads offers prayer beads to many denominations from Catholicism to Judaism to non-denominational spiritually conscious folks and all are for Twelve Steppers.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I plan to build on the TwelveBeads permanent collection while maintaining a small section of one of a kind items. Eventually I would like to have a printed catalog featuring the full line from TwelveBeads.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It is hard to measure as it is a passion and done not completely for the money. All of my work is done because I love people in recovery and want to give back to them from the creative gifts God has given me as well as from things I have learned in my own recovery.

What is your website address?

TwelveBeads
