Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
I've always wanted to write and blogging seems a perfect outlet for stories about our business and how others might be able to create their own jewelry business
What blogging platform do you do and why?
I use wordpress, mostly because of all the plugins and updates available and the ease of use.
What do you blog the most about?
We have beenin the handmade jewelry business since 1985 so that's what I know about and write about.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
Bloggers who are just in it for the money; affiliates and ads that are just trying to sell you something... there is more to life!
Give five of your best blogging tips.
Honestly I'm not so great at blogging but these are my tips;
1. Just be yourself, writing will come easily 2. Write about what you know 3. Show your passion and interests 4. Take enough time to think out what you really want to write and what you want the person reading to come away thinking. 5. Write like you're talking to your best friend
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
I don't like to blog about someone's opinion. It's their opinion and even if I disagree that's just my opinion. Everyone is different and that's one of the things that makes blogging fun. No one should blog to hurt anyone's feelings or offend them.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
We've been in the jewelry business for over 20 years. We've made enough money having an actual wholesale business and actual products to sell. Our online business is just an extra bonus.
How long have you been blogging?
I've only been blogging a couple of months
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
It seems like I'm at the computer all day doing lots of different things but I like to spend a couple hours devoted to blogging and learning more about blogging.
Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
No, I'm just not that good.
Do you use Digg, and why or why not?
I do use Digg, I've submitted some articles but I don't really understand how it is supposed to help my blog. I don't particularly like the way most comments end way off topic like a bunch of teenagers talking in the basement.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
Just signed up, but again I don't get it.
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
Articles seem to bring the most visitors and we rank well in the search engines for most of our keywords.
